Thank you for another scene I am unlikely to see in real life...Am I right in thinking that Galahs are considered to be stupid birds??.

@Jeff: Yes but they're not really. You can train them to talk for instance so they can't be that stupid. It's a bit of a misunderstanding, that slang term for stupid, it more means to be silly, to be showing off in a silly way, as galahs are renowned for that. Though they do have a tendancy to not get off the road when they see a car coming..that's when I'll say something like "Oh you stupid galah!"
Wow, I don't think I've ever seen so many birds together in a tree allowing someone to take their photo. This weekend I was having a very hard time just getting one of each flock I passed to sit still long enough for me to get a photo.
By the way, as regards to the name of these birds, my limited reading on the subject of nature tells me that many creatures and plants are misnamed from past ignorance and prejudice. Here, for example, we have flowers like the Indian Paintbrush, that are pretty flowers, and named long after Native Americans had become mythic cultures, and the Mexican Hat, which is not so pretty, and named pejoratively when more racist attitudes were prevalent.
