One thing I've always wondered about Australia --given your country's origins, how come you don't have unarmed police like they do in the UK? It seems like your police are more like the police here.

@Twelvebit: I don't know the answer to that..we're not quite as civilised as the english :D, maybe they thought we were more in need of armed police, what with bush rangers and the like. I find it amazing that their police are unarmed, particularly nowadays..very brave!
